Happy New Year,
As we start a new year we’d like to take this opportunity to provide an update on what the Open Gaming Alliance accomplished in 2015 and outline some of our plans for 2016. (Please bear with us, as this email is a bit long, there is much to cover.)
New Board Members: 2015 brought a resurgence of interest in the Open Gaming Alliance. Drew Johnston (Digital River) and Wanda Meloni (M2 Advisory/Gaming Business Review) were elected to the OGA Board in January. Drew came on as the new President and Chairman, and Wanda became Vice President and Secretary. OGA’s past President, Matt Ployhar completed his 4-year term and now continues the board as Treasurer. We have also added several new board members including Jeff Hemenway from Unity and Vik Long from Razer.
Executive Director: We needed more day-to-day support with all the new activity, so in October Wanda Meloni became our Executive Director to steer the new initiatives and membership activities. Her work has already increased membership and we look forward to her guidance as we build a trade association on driving business, growth, and innovation to support the gaming ecosystem.
New Advisory Board Members: We are also welcoming several new members to the OGA Advisory Board, Ed Fries, Louis Castle and John Gaudiosi. Ed Fries was of course instrumental in the launch of the Xbox. As the Co-Founder of Westwood Studios Louis Castle continues to innovate and provide positive leadership and recently received the ICON Award at the Games Awards. John Gaudiosi is a well-known games journalist and brings support for our VR and ESports SIGs.
In December, Matt Ployhar provided a detailed webinar on the 2015 OGA Research. If you are interested in the slide deck please contact Wanda Meloni.
Here is the complete Overview of OGA Activities for 2015.
